Frequently Asked Questions

Is my chat history stored or shared?

Chat history is stored locally in your browser. If you clear your cache, it will be lost. Interaction logs are used for performance monitoring only and do not include sensitive or personal research data.

How do I know if I have the correct model selected?

Check that “Research Agent (Small Molecule)” is the model selected in the top left corner of the screen. You can click it and select the model if needed.

What should I do if the agent gives an incorrect or hallucinated response?

Use the in‑agent feedback to rate the response and explain the issue — our team reviews these to improve the agent. You can also flag it in the SM Research Agent Slack help channel for triage.

Can I share agent outputs in presentations or reports?

Yes, but first verify critical findings as you would with any AI platform you use today.

Can I use the agent for multi‑step or follow‑up conversations?

Yes. The agent retains chat context within a single session and remembers a summarized conversation for 90 minutes after you leave the chat. Use “New Chat” when switching topics entirely to avoid confusion.

I have seen an issue with an answer — should I report it with the thumbs down in the chat session?

Yes — please provide any feedback on your experience so we can continue to smooth out the rough edges of the agent. You can also reference the known issues we intend to fix in the near future. For more urgent review, raise the issue in the Slack channel.

If the agent provides a link to SMDI or another platform to log in, you may need to log in to that platform first, then click the link within the agent itself.

Can I specify date ranges based on “last quarter”, “last year”, etc.?

At this time, it is best to specify the exact timeframe (e.g. January to March 2026) instead of stating “last quarter”. A future enhancement will improve the agent’s recognition of statements like “last quarter”; until then, please explicitly define the date range.

The agent only displays 25 results but there are more — what do I do?

You have two options: export your results to CSV to see the full answer, or simply ask the agent to display the full results.

I see a bunch of code — is this okay? Is the agent broken?

This is 100% normal behavior — do not worry. The agent is building its SQL query. If you click collapse, it will be hidden.

I see data in the right‑hand pane but don’t want to scroll back and forth — is there a better way to view it?

Click the expand button in the top right corner to see your data in fullscreen.
